About Us
Swapro is a group of people passionate about the seaweed industry. We are firm believers in its potential for our country's sustainable growth. Ever since we were introduced to the awesomeness of seaweed, we have been in awe of it and the feeling has been increasing ever since. It’s like that catchy song, which you just can’t get off your brain & while we are humming the tune, we want all the people who we come across to sing along as well. Though everyone is aware and convinced about the positive impact of seaweed on the planet's future, the contours are still shaping up. Swapro is in the same boat. Like the industry itself, we are still a little green(pun intended) in understanding the commercial viability and scalability of this industry. We are sure we will be able to find our path soon but till then, we are happy to be part of this seaweed revolution!
Our mission at swapro is to make seaweed mainstream and bring its goodness to every individual. it’s a win-win for both the planet and humans. In line with the above mission, we want to create a strong community of seaweed evangelists which would include anyone and everyone related to it- farmers, researchers, policy makers, industry, enthusiasts and consumers.
Pulkit
Co founder
Pulkit is a young entrepreneur who has been in the fisheries and aquaculture industry for over 15 years. It is in his blood. He is an active partner in our sister concern-“Das and Kumars” which is the leading cage and aquaculture infrastructure manufacturing company in the country. With his active role with Das and Kumars, Pulkit has worked in more than 20 Indian states & 3 countries with fisheries departments, research institutes, policy makers & farmers to build a robust aquaculture infrastructure. His ground experience with the Indian marine & fisheries industry is going to be the cornerstone for Swapro’s future success. Apart from this, he is an avid traveler and adventurer who loves to explore.
Ayush
Co founder
Ayush has a wide experience in the field of retail & wholesale trade. From wholesaling agri commodities to currently importing robotics and electronic modules, he has developed ground up experience in business development, strategy, marketing & branding. He is ever curious and always eager to learn, be it from books, people or travel.
Vikash Kumar
Operations
Vikash is a UP boy who is the heart of our seaweed operations in Tamil Nadu. He is a go getter with exceptional ‘getting things done’ skills. In a very short time, He has been able to forge strong relationships with local fishermen/farmers' community. Currently, he manages more than 100 rafts for smooth cultivation.
Dr. Muruganantham A.
Senior Technical Advisor & Mentor
Dr. Muruganatham is an authority figure in the Indian seaweed industry and has made immense contribution in the last 23 odd years in shaping the industry from its very roots. He completed his doctorate degree in Centre of advanced study in Marine Biology, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, India. He has published several research papers in various reputed journals in the field of seaweed and also attended a number of seminars, symposia and training courses in related fields during his academic career. He was awarded Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in 1999.
